H. Res. 1008 condemning the persecution of the Baha'is in Iran

It's about time our congress and senate do something bedside loading their bills up with pork! Lets hope we can take action to protect Baha'is physically (this does NOT mean using violence, this DOES mean DOING something besides just talking about it... taking responsibilty for fellow man), and not just talk about it!

Quoting my dear sister Gina, who spoke so eloquently:

I wish there was more we can do than post a video - important as that is. It seems such antiquated behavior to imprison and deny one's rights simply because of their religious beliefs. We as a race have come far beyond such prejudice. Relishing diversity marks mature behavior that thankfully is applauded in most parts of the world. Paraphrasing one saying -'there are as many paths to God as their are breaths'.

ART FIRE! The Newest Place to sell your Hand crafted goodies!

Have you heard of ART FIRE?
Art Fire is a new website for selling handmade items - I just signed up for it this week! I've tried JustBeads (no sales, ever!), gave up on EBAY (the listing and sales fees were KILLING me), and of course I have my beloved ETSY store, where I continue to list my lampwork and jewelry.

VISIT MY ARTFIRE
ArtFire - Buy Handmade - Sell Handmade

But, It's looking like Art Fire has the advantage over Etsy in several areas. I could spend a lot of time having Pam (my sweet daughter who does most of my typing for me since I am still in pretty severe arm pain) type out all the advantages of ART FIRE over Ebay, but if you take a look at this checklist , you'll agree that paying ONLY $7 a month, along with some HUGE benefits, will be far LESS EXPENSIVE than any other POPULAR sales outlet sites that we artisans currently have available to us!

If you like what you see, please DO consider Registering at ART FIRE Register on ArtFire.com. If you sign up soon, AND include a link on YOUR blog, share with at least 10 others who sign up, you may qualify for a FREE ART FIRE account! What's there to lose?

Please let me know what you think of Art Fire as well?

If you've read yesterday's post, then you know this is a last call for these beautiful animals.

Bill and I drove down there today and brought home an adorable 4 month old black kitty, whom we've named "Cricket". We brought him home to save his life in honor of the kitty we just lost and miss so very much, "Dusty Rhodes". Pictures to come, I promise.

In the past month there has been a lot of publicity surrounding the closure of The St Augustine Humane Society, due to the lack of funds to maintain the thousands of animals pouring in there yearly. The St Augustine Humane Society of St Augustine, FL is definitely closing at the end of the month. Today, the article in St. Augustine Record states:

"Humane Society Director Cindy Bishop (at left kissing a gray striped tabby) is working to adopt out the nearly 200 animals at the shelter. She said she plans to call rescue groups in the area, and she is researching the possibility of transporting animals to Humane Societies in surrounding counties."

If you have been thinking about adopting a pet, now is the time. Please tell everyone you know. We have 3 shelter rescue cats as pets, and they are such wonderful friends!

Right now they have REDUCED ADOPTION FEES! Hours: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through Oct. 31

I am a real lover of Hidden Object and Puzzle Games, so I joined Big Fish Game Club a while back, that allows me to play any game I want for only $6.99 and I get a free hour to try it out first!

Playing those types of games, in slow mode, is excellent exercise for my fingers which always hurt like heck and don't work properly yet. If you love games like these, I'll include some links below where you can try a free download and try them out too!
Enjoy!

Hi All,
Sorry I am still not blogging much, arm's still in dreadful pain, and it hurts to type. However I AM using my left arm more and more. My Doctor wants me to try to get more exercise, so I am taking our new rescue dog Trinket (Minature Schnauzer) to competition training classes. I am going to try to put a CD on her!

Soon, she'll actually come when called (ok she does now, but in her own sweet time!) . She is VERY smart, and stays in a sit after her leash is removed, and can stay, with us out of sight, for a full minute, without distractions.

After we lost our last Dane L.A. this spring, and after all the health issues we've been through, I doubted we'd be able to get anoth dog for a while. However she's proven to be not only a really GOOD way to get some exercise, but she's a joy to be with and loves to cuddle. We're very lucky to have found her. She's a purebred with all her AKC reg papers, so we're good to go on AKC Obedience trials. Let's just see if mom can keep up!

September Blues

Sorry for the delay in posting, arm pain and Dr Appointments do me in physically. I am starting to attempt beads this month, but it WILL be a while before I am able to make beads well.

Update, April 39 2011, I STILL cannot make a bead...pitiful trial....

I've partnered with Pedi-Paws on my http://www.doglogic.com/ website, I think the Pedi-Paws is an excellent way for the average pet owner to safely trim their pets' nails without causing trauma and for a nicely smooth nail trim~ Click the picture for more info!

Recently I created some holiday beads and a couple of beautiful pieces of Jewelry, they are up for sale in my Etsy store Check them out!:

Elbow Woes and Storm Fay!

Sorry I am not blogging much, arm still in dreadful pain, and it hurts to type. For anyone who missed the info, I shattered my right elbow in a nasty fall on Dec 14, 2007 and it STILL hurts like hell and I have very limited range of motion. I type pretty much only left handed so it tales FOR-Ev-A!

Below are the before and after X-Rays... not pretty!

As you can see, there's a lot of hardware in my right elbow now, in the first photo you can actually seee the heads of all 3 bones are broken right off. It hurts just THINKING about it!

Anyway, I just popped on to let family and friends know we're surviving Tropical Storm Fay, ok. We're soaking wet and there are tree branches down EVERYWHERE, and power's been off and on for days, but we're safe and dry inside!

See you all soon!

Featured Artist: Lampwork Diva

This weeks Featured Artist is my good friend Cindy Gimbrone Her Blog site is LAMPWORK DIVA!

To the right is a representation of some of her gorgeous lampworked pieces. I've included a part of her artists statement below, it fully symbolizes the art she creates!

"I’m inspired by medium and imagination. The medium of glass is a liquid that we experience as a solid –only in the flame can it be returned to its liquid state. Working glass at a torch in its natural state, I can form the glass into what you will experience as a solid bead. What a fascinating concept – a solid liquid - and is one that inspires my imagination. "

Thank you Cindy for sharing your enormous talent and beautiful soul with us, through your art!

Sleek Beads Featured Artist

Jo from Sleekbeads makes some absolutely BREATHTAKING lickable beads! Here are a couple of my favorites of her beads, along with a quote from her site!

"My obsession with glass began about 3 years ago. I was designing jewelry back then and purchasing lampwork beads from friends and online. After a while I just wasn't finding what I wanted. So, motivated as I am, I purchased a small lampworking kit and began melting softglass. After a while, I decided to upgrade my torch for more heat. Soon after that I was becoming fascinated with the world of borosilicate glass."

Thanksgiving and Prayers

Ok, so I am not big on prayers, but it's been a ROUGH month. Hubby just came out of the hospital after a nasty bout with pneumonia, pancreatitis and gallbladder disease. So, if you have some extra white light thoughts or prayers to send along, they'll be appreciated, he's still not out of the woods yet.

I've decided to start producing some more of my Deep Sea and Caribbean beads, so if anyone wants custom orders, please feel free to email me. Thanks everyone, and have a Safe & Happy Thanksgiving.

Featured Artist & Save the Planet!

Morning friends,
I've decided to share some of the Best of the Best lampworkers with you as often as I can.

This week I am featuring Suz From Oz! As her name indicated she's from Australia, and has some beautiful beads! Here's a sample:

To see more of her lovely work and read her Blog, check it out here: http://suzanne-catching-up.blogspot.com/

BTW Suzanne's blog mentions that today is Blog Action Day. I am all over taking care of our environment. I am not really sure that some of the solutions offered (and opinions about how the problems are occurring) are accurate, but I am SURE that we need to start taking care of our children's legacy, before thay HAVE no planet!

My concerns are mostly with housing & commercial developments proliferating so fast and far, that they are displacing so many species of wildlife dependent upon the land and forests to survive. I had White Tailed Deer and some species of Wild Cat, as well as River Otters & Raccoons visiting my backyard and pond with little frequency 5 years ago. Now, they've become regulars and are obviously skinny and hungry as deforestation and increased building occurs around our little acre of rural land.

At this point, I am aware, (from discussions with neighbors & observation) that the problem has become an epidemic. Racoons are even venturing out during earlier daytime hours to eat, very skinny deer are standing at the edges of the undergrowth surrounding our land, just waiting for us to put out over-ripe fruit so they can eat. It's ripping at my heart and I don't think there is a darn thing I can do about it.

We put out salt licks every fall & winter, seeds and nuts for the birds and other animals who like them, as well as the fruit I mentioned earlier, but that's only helping a few very hungry, and most likely doomed animals. The Racoons & Otters seem to find good eating in the mud on our pond bottom, and Herons, Egrets, Hawks & Wood Ducks keep hanging in there, but I expect this winter I won't see a single deer, as the ones I last saw this spring were so skinny, I really didn't think they'd survive another winter.

Anyway, please let me know about YOUR solutions to this devastating problem. Maybe together, we CAN do something.
Hugs,
Lynnie
